Miles started teaching himself the guitar at the age of 8 after being denied lessons for refusing to learn to hold and play the guitar right-handed. Later in high school, he began taking lessons at the Rockland Conservatory of Music, studying under Adam Falcon and from there, was accepted to major in Composition and Production at SUNY Purchase College. During his time at Purchase, he was playing in bands and teaching guitar/bass lessons to kids and adults to make some extra money and after graduating with a Bachelor’s in Music, began working regular teaching jobs at various music schools around the Rockland/Bergen County area.
Having also spent time volunteering and working positions assisting disabled people and teaching children, Miles has developed a large amount of patience and motivation to want to ensure whatever concept he is teaching a student can leave his lessons understanding. Miles is an energetic person who looks forward to witnessing students progress from first learning basic concepts on an instrument to developing their skills to the level of musicianship. During his career, he has played a large role in the forming of a number of young bands and has also seen students go off to start professional music careers.
When he’s not teaching, Miles is either at home with his 2 kids or is playing out on various gigs or with his own band, Our Fears.”
