Guitar Lessons in Suffern, NY

Rob's School of Music
“My son started taking guitar in the beginning of the school year. At first, I was worried he would be too young. He is 7. It was the best experience for him. He’s gained so much confidence and his fine motor skills have improved tremendously! His handwriting has gotten so much better since starting his lessons. His attention and ability to focus have also been noticeably better. I highly recommend checking it out!”

Do you want to know what makes guitar lessons in Suffern, NY at Rob’s School of Music different from all other music schools? We customize each and every lesson to the student. No cookie cutter lesson plans; no “one size fits all” programs.

Once we figure out what each student loves about music and wants to learn, we can then adjust to their learning styles.

All of our guitar teachers have degrees in music and use their years of recording and touring experience to make learning guitar and bass FUN! Within the first 30-minute guitar lesson, you will be PLAYING GUITAR!

If you don’t already have your own guitar, no worries! We have over 30 different guitars in the school for you to try out to see which shape and style is right for you! You can start on an acoustic or electric, full size or ¾. We also have professional amplifiers ranging from Marshall, Fender and Mesa/Boogie along with a whole library of modern and vintage effects pedals.

Every student who is enrolled in guitar lessons gets a full rock star experience starting from their very first lesson!

Awesome Events and Recitals

Awesome Events and Recitals
Our events are EPIC! All students are invited to perform in many local pop-up performances. We also do annual recitals unlike any music school around. We make these events fun and entertaining for the students and the entire family with professional lighting and sound, concessions, and recordings. Our Rock Band students perform at REAL venues every 6-8 weeks.
Customized Learning System

Customized Learning System
Nothing about Rob’s School of Music is cookie-cutter. Every student receives a completely customized curriculum, so they are taught how THEY learn. Once enrolled, every student receives a questionnaire so we can learn about their musical goals and “why” they want to learn how to play music.
It’s More Than Music

It’s More Than Music
As a music school, our first goal is to teach our students how to play music, but at Robs School Of Music, it goes much deeper than that. In a perfect world, 20 years from now, all of our students would still be rocking, but even if they’re not, they will still possess the self-discipline and confidence instilled in every lesson.
Learn from True Musical Practitioners

Learn from True Musical Practitioners
A good teacher changes everything. Every music coach at Robs School Of Music is an active touring and recording professional musician. But it doesn’t stop there. We are a team of educators who put all of our student's needs front and center in every lesson. Our team is trained to adapt their teaching style on the fly to ensure we connect with our students every minute they’re with us.
We recommend guitar students start no younger than 7 years old, but there are always exceptions. Schedule a free consultation to see what is best for you.
We recommend all guitar students own their own guitar. We have guitars to use within the school, but everyone should really own their own instrument for optimal practicing. It doesn't matter if it's an acoustic, nylon-string, or electronic guitar, all of the fundamentals are the same.
All of our programs are custom-tailored to the student's goals and learning style. As a primer, every guitar student will learn a combination of chords, scales, rhythm techniques, various strumming patterns, common chord progressions.
All active students are invited to participate in our 2 street fair performances and end-of-the-year concert. We put the students into groups based on experience and rehearse as needed for these events. If you are looking for something more consistent, we offer a Rock Band program where we rehearse weekly and perform various public gigs (local clubs, elementary school, summer festivals, etc. This is more geared toward intermediate and above students.
